Katherine A. Wigington, age 75, of Huron, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron. Visitation, with her family present, will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, NE on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Catholic School in Huron.

Katherine Ann was born in Denver, Colorado to Edmund T. and Elsa Jean (O'Rourke) Martin on December 12, 1946. As a young girl, the family moved to Huron. She attended St. Teresa Catholic School till 8 ^th grade and then attended Huron High School, graduating in 1964. After high school, she attended St. John School of Nursing in Huron, graduating in 1967.

Kathy met her husband, Richard Wigington and they were married June 8, 1968 at St. Martin's Church in Huron. Richard and Kathy moved to Chadron, NE in May of 1969. Their son, Mark, was born on September 2, 1969.

Kathy worked as a staff nurse and after three years she worked as Director of Nursing at Chadron Community Hospital until 1998 when they moved back to Huron. Kathy then worked as a staff nurse in De Smet until her retirement.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish where she was in charge of the funeral lunch committee for many years. She was a gifted seamstress, sewing many dresses, including her own wedding dress and special gifts for Richard. She enjoyed crafting, needlepoint and ceramics.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Richard of Huron; her brothers, Edmund F. Martin (Candy) of San Antonio, TX, Dave Martin (Susan) of Scottsbluff, NE, John Martin of Sioux Falls, Brian Martin (Sang Ju) of Sacile, Italy; her sisters, Marie Hirning (Sherlock) of Rapid City, Elaine Hilton (Jon) of Huron, and Janet Sargent of Rapid City; sister-in-law, Diana Martin of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark; and her brothers, Paul Martin and Daniel Martin.
