Katherine N. Manolis, age 98, formerly of 235 16th St. SW, Huron, died early Tuesday morning August 17, 2004, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, August 20, at Riverside Cemetery, Huron, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Grace Episcopal Church with The Very Rev. George Parmeter officiating. Welter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, Grace Episcopal Church or to the donors choice. Katherine N. Manolis was born Katherine Rousalis on March 7, 1906, to John and Matina (Gramas) Rousalis in Niata, Greece. In 1920, at the age of 14 she came to Huron from Greece. On September 24, 1924, she married Nick Manolis and she resided in Huron until the time of her death. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and St. Agnes Guild, PEO, a life member of Huron Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and a Pink Lady volunteer for many years. She was also a life member of the Huron Area Senior Center, a volunteer of R.S.V.P. where she received her 25 year pin, member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Y.W.C.A. Katherine enjoyed bridge, gardening, cooking, and volunteering as a Pink Lady at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Katherine became a resident of the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home on October 1, 2002. She is survived by one son, George and his wife, Pat of Huron; five grandchildren, Joan Manolis of Edina, MN, Carib Nelson of Medina, WA, Marty Nelson and Maurine Clark of Seattle, WA, and Karen Nelson of Longley, WA; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Tena; her parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
