Hillman, the daughter of William Arnold and Margaret (Freehill) Hillman, was born on September 7, 1941 in Chicago, IL. She attended school and graduated from High School. Karen came to South Dakota to visit in 1994 and decided to make Huron her home. Ken Buttermore led her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in 1996 while visiting her in the nursing home where she was recovering from hip surgery. Karen started to attend Bethesda Church in Huron and called them her family. Karen knew she was a sinner and was adopted into the Lord's family and into the Bethesda family. Karen's life settled around the church, Bible studies, and her volunteer work in AWANA and Head Start. Karen is survived by her son, Mark (Beth) Holdridge, of Blaire, NE; daughter, Maria (Chris) Hendricks of Kansas City, KS; three grandchildren: Magdelaine, Elaine, and Jacob Christopher Hendricks of Kansas City, KS; and her many adopted friends whom she called family. Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
