Obituary

Karen E. Hamman, age 80, of Huron, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron surrounded by her family. Her private family funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24 at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with her family present, will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, March 23 at Welter Funeral Home with a scripture service to start at 6:30.

Karen Eloise Jueneman was born on June 20, 1942 to parents Aloysius and Kathryn (Roemeling) Jueneman in Adrian, Minnesota. Karen grew up in Adrian, attending St. Adrian Catholic School.

She married Richard Hamman on June 27, 1960, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. Karen and Richard made their home in Adrian, Rapid City, S.D., Mitchell, S.D., and Huron. Karen was employed with WAPA for many years. Prior to this, she and Richard owned and operated Huron Office Supply. She also worked at A and M Radio.

Karen enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, decorating, gardening, and watching Jeopardy. She also loved to listen to music. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard of Huron; her children and grandchildren, daughter Shellaine (Brad) Munyon of Spicer, MN and their children, Nicole (Darin) Pierce and Emily (Trent) Thompson; son Russell Hamman of Bismarck, ND and his son, Tyler (Kristen) Hamman; daughter Jacquelyn (Blaise) Tomczak of Huron and their children, Megan (Cody) Kleinsasser, Sierra (Paul) Kranz, Tatum (Lance) Tebay, and Nathan (Tarryn) Tomczak; son Richard (Lanell) Hamman, Jr., of Pelican Rapids, MN and their children, Amanda (Elijah) Jones, Miranda (Zac) Anderson, and Alexandria Hamman; 14 great-grandchildren with 4 on the way and 1 great-great grandchild on the way; her brother, Donnie (Frances) Jueneman of Red Wing, MN; nephews, David Jueneman, Steven Jueneman, Allen (Michelle) Jueneman; niece, Lynette (Paul) Ybarrondo; sister-in-law, Jocelyne Jueneman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Merlin and Richard; grandson, Zachary Blaise Tomczak; great-granddaughter, Tenley Thompson; and daughter-in-law, Kim Hamman.
