June Hammer, age 64, of 810 Minnesota Ave. SW, Huron, passed away Monday, July 18, 2005, at Sioux Valley Hospital at Sioux Falls. The celebration of her life will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 23, in the Huron Christian Church with Pastor Al Wager and Pastor Aaron Jones officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Saturday morning. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be directed to the June Hammer Memorial Fund at Dakota Federal Credit Union. The family may be reached via e-mail at tammyhammer@mchsi.com June was born on June 29, 1941, in Huron to Bill and Lillian (Christensen) Knutz. She lived on a farm near Virgil and attended school in Virgil. In 1955 she attend Huron High School, where she met Everett Hammer. She graduated from high school in 1959. On June 10, 1959, she married Everett in Huron where they lived until 1961 when they moved to Phoenix, AZ. She worked at the Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Phoenix from 1963 until 1968. In 1981 she and her sister-in-law, Cheryl Knutz, purchased a dog grooming shop named The Bowser Boutique in Glendale, AZ. In 1985 the couple moved back to Huron, where June continued to groom dogs out of her home until retiring to spend time with her grandchildren. June was active in the Clyde Central Card Club in Huron. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and a weekend favorite pastime was going to rummage sales. She was active in the Huron Christian Church congregation and served as a co-captain of the womens fellowship group June is survived by her husband of 46 years, Everett of Huron; daughter Rikki and Bill Kiser and their children BJ, Cameron, Daniel, Kennadi, and Konner of Huron; son Scott and Courtney Hammer and their children Morgan, Skyler, and Wyatt of Rapid City; son Shane and Tammy Hammer and their children Daulton and Bennie of Brookings; son Tony and Bessie Hammer, and their child Blake of Huron; her sister Betty Jean Hammer of Rochester, MN; her brother Bill and Terry Knutz of Las Vegas, NV; her brother Don and Cheryl Knutz of Las Vegas, NV; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Lillian Knutz; infant son Chad Everett; and daughter Roxie Annette.
