Obituary

Julia Crandall, age 85, of Wolsey, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at SunQuest Heath Care Center in Huron.

Her funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Wolsey with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation with family present will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, September 19 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to service at the church.

Julia Esther Crandall was born June 15, 1925 to Peder and Anna (Evenson) Haugen in rural Alpena, SD. She attended country schools before graduating from Alpena High School in 1943.

Julia married Raymond Crandall November 13, 1943 in Huron. The couple raised their family on several farms around Beadle County before focusing on their custom harvest operation. She was an accomplished truck driver and was always willing to jump in and help with harvest for the 43 years they were custom harvesters.

Julia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wolsey, BYY Extension Club, two card clubs, and was the Past President of the Wolsey Senior Center.

Julia was well know for making crafts, whether it was winning ribbons at the State Fair, or making holiday candy baskets for the Kindergarten, First, or Second graders at Wolsey Elementary School.

Julia is survived by; daughters, Sharon (Louie) Busch of Huron, and Pamela (Jim Fode) Eichstadt of Wolsey; sons, John Crandall of Huron, and Jeffrey Crandall of Deer Lodge, MT; son-in-law, Roger Weinmann of LoLo, MT, 9 grandchildren, Laurie (Kerry) Nelson, Lisa Hansen, David (Sarah Myers) Hansen, Justin Busch, Scott (Amber) Weinmann, Rochelle (Dan) Schmauch, Rhonda (Darren) Hokanson, Chad (Betty) Crandall, and Brian Crandall; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Archie (Alice) Crandall of Nampa, ID; sister-in-law Ida Crandall of Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Julia was preceded in death by; her parents; husband, Ray in 2005; daughter, Sandra in 2006; brothers, Otto Haugen, Pete Haugen, Joe Haugen; sisters, Carolina Peterson, Selma Bechtold, Ruth Oestrich, and Alma Johnson.
