Juanita Grundman, age 86, of Spirit Lake, IA, formerly of Wolsey, SD, passed away on Thursday March 8, 2012, at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, IA. Her Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD, with burial at the Altoona Cemetery in Hitchcock, SD. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Monday. Juanita Hoerth, the daughter of Fred and Lydia (Schaffer) Hoerth, was born on August 4, 1925, near Miller, SD. She was baptized in her parent's home in Alpena, SD. Juanita attended country school south of Miller, SD and Alpena High School. Juanita married Ralph Grundman on August 6, 1945, in Pipestone, MN. The couple lived in Hitchcock, SD, and Wolsey, SD, until Ralph's death in 1991. Juanita moved to Huron, SD, in 1992 and finally to Spirit Lake, IA, in 2001 to be closer to her daughter, Diane. Juanita was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and raising her animals on their farm. Family and friends were very important to her and she loved spending time with them. Grateful for having shared in Juanita's life are her daughter, Diane Grundman of Spirit Lake, IA; brother, Delvin (Arla) Hoerth of Grand Island, NE; sister, Violet Booth of Barberton, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph in 1991; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
