Obituary

Joyce Wickham, age 80, of Huron died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield. Her funeral will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial in St. Martin's Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Friday, January 24, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Joyce "Dolly" Wickham was born to Frank and Pauline (Heidt) Duresky, July 14th, 1933 in Columbus Wisconsin. She attended schools in Madison, Milwaukee, and Huron, SD. She attended 1 semester at Huron College & Northwest College of Commerce. Joyce married Charles Wickham September 24, 1955, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Huron. They made their first home in Huron. In 1962, they moved to Redfield, SD, where they owned and operated Chuck's Standard Service. In 1972, they returned to Huron and have lived here ever since. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish at St Martin's Church. She belonged to the Altar Society in Huron and Redfield, Member of the Lioness Club in Redfield, and substitute teacher for CCE in Redfield. Joyce worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in Milwaukee WI, Northwest Security National Bank, Beadle County Treasurers office, Edney Distributing, as an aid in the Huron School System, and Huron Regional Medical Center as admissions clerk. Joyce enjoyed playing cribbage, scrabble, and an occasional slot machine. She also loved to read. Joyce is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Charles Wickham of Huron; one son, Michael (Carol) Wickham of Baltic SD; one daughter, Michele (Michael) Benn of Boynton Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, Allexa (Thomas) Smith of Uxbridge, MA, Branden, Melyssa, Kayla, and Amanda Benn of Boynton Beach, FL, Ashley Gordon of Baltic, SD, and Amber Geller of Mankato MN; one brother, Frank Duresky of Woodbury MN, one sister, Susanne (Dale) Peterson of Hoven, SD; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Duresky; three sisters, Gwen Schmeling, Loretta (James) Murphy, and Jayne Vojtisek.
