Joyce E. Reiter, age 89, of Huron, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church in Huron. Burial will be at 2:30 PM Friday, October 25, at Hills of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery at Sioux Falls.

Visitation, with the family present, will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, October 24 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Joyce E. Thompson was born on January 27, 1930, to Roscoe and Clara (Barnes) Thompson at Pierre, SD. She attended school in Pierre.

On March 20, 1948, Joyce married William "Bill" Reiter at Luverne, MN. The couple lived in Sioux Falls until 1964, when Bill bought his trucking business and they moved to Wolsey, SD. In 1988, they moved to Huron and have lived here since that time. Bill and Joyce also spent many years wintering in Arizona and Joyce continued to travel to Arizona for several years after Bill's passing.

Joyce was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huron, SD.  Joyce enjoyed remodeling old homes, road trips to the casinos in South Dakota and Arizona, bingo, and playing card games.

Grateful for having shared in Joyce's life are her children, Linda Schwartz of Huron, James (Vicki) Reiter of Concordia, KS; and Joy (Bill) Woodard of Durango, CO; 9 grandchildren, Nadine (Truman) Savery, Matthew Schwartz, Kristie (Bobby) Richardson, Kimberly (Ben) Brustkern, Jody (Mechelle Butler) Dorman, Rustin (Kristianna) Bartel, Cassie (Neil) Carico, and  Cahlie (Thad) McCollum; 21 great grandchildren: Cassandra, Kendra, and Josiah Savery, Bryli and Badyn Hickey, Josee, Alyssa, and Richard Schwartz, Kiara, Jazilyn, Tiana, and Kaden Richardson, Tyler, Gabrielle, and Carter Brustkern, Wyatt, Rylee, and Colt Bartel, Hadley Keegan, Harlynn and Charley McCollum; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill; grandson, Jason Schwartz; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
