Joyce Pevestorf, age 94, of Huron died Monday, February 23, 2015 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Her funeral will be 10:00 am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm Friday, February 27, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 pm; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Joyce Hazel Johnson was born on February 15, 1921 in Isanti, MN to Herbert and Edith (Granholm) Johnson. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1939. During World War II, Joyce worked in a rationing office in Minneapolis. Joyce married Leonard Pevestorf on September 1, 1945 in Cambridge, MN. They lived and farmed in the Cambridge area until 1948 when they moved to a farm near Alpena, SD. One year later they moved to a farm north of Huron where they farmed until 1962. At that time they purchased a farm one mile further east, near the Jim River. Leonard and Joyce lived there until moving into Huron in 2007. Joyce was a member of the Good Willing Workers Club and American Lutheran Church. She was a President Valley Township School Board. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and watching Twins baseball. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Barb (Tony) Kludt of Miller; two grandsons, Kory (Jenilee) Kludt of Sioux Falls, Kip (Kimberly) Kludt of Brookings; four great grandchildren, Brittany Kludt, Jordan Kludt, Carson Kludt, and Jayde Kludt; and one nephew Herbert (Yvonne) Johnson of Harris, MN. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Pevestorf on March 4, 2013; her brother, Curtis Johnson; and niece, Trudy Johnson.
