Obituary

Joyce Dubro, age 79, of 1251 Arizona Ave. SW, Huron, died Thursday, December 20, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, December 24, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, or Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Joyce Dubro was born Joyce A. Jensen on May 12, 1928, to J. Albert and Myrtle (Bergerson) Jensen in Erwin, SD. She attended schools in Erwin and graduated from Erwin High School. On September 30, 1949, Joyce married Robert A. Dubro at the Lutheran Church in De Smet, SD. Following their marriage the couple moved to a home in Huron where they lived until 1955 when they moved to a home south of Huron. In 1970 they moved to a home southeast of Huron. In 1951, Joyce began a 27 year working career with the federal government in various agencies including the Bureau of Reclamation, Geological Survey, and Federal Crop Insurance Corporation. She retired in 1978. Joyce moved to SunQuest Village in 2005 and became a resident of the Huron Nursing Home in January 2007. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, William Reaves American Legion Post #7 Auxiliary, and the Forrest McMullen VFW Post #1776 Auxiliary. Her many interests included crocheting, reading, playing cards, dancing, crossword puzzles, gardening, hunting, and traveling in her camper to visit family. She is survived by 2 daughters, Vicki (Louie) Reif of Madison, SD, and Carolyn (William) Bloodgood of Cavour, SD; 1 son, Robert E. Dubro and his special friend, Christine Tschumper of Watertown, SD; 6 grandchildren, Cory (Carol) Reif of Salem, SD, Derek Reif of Hutchinson, MN, William (Jasmine) Reif of Mountain Home, ID, Kelley Van Tassel of Madison, SD, Jayme (Barry) Hershman of Cavour, and Jason Bloodgood of Cavour, SD; 6 great grandchildren, Justin Reif, Jayden Reif, Sahara Van Tassel, Jordan Reif, Madison Hershman, and Mackenzie Hershman; 2 brothers, Virgil (Joyce) Jensen of Erwin, SD, and Merlyn (Margaret) Jensen of Volga, SD; 1 sister, Geraldine (Richard) Lommel of St. Cloud, MN; 1 sister-in-law, Donna Jensen of Erwin, SD; 1 brother-in-law, Edgar (Maxine) Gunderson of Trent, SD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert A.; 2 sisters, Edyth Weber, and Darlene Gunderson; 1 brother, LuVerne Jensen; 1 brother-in-law, Donald Weber; 2 nephews; and 1 niece.
