Josephine Russell, age 98, of 50 7th St. SE, and formerly of 854 Kansas Ave. SE, Huron, died Saturday, December 4, 2004, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 8, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kevin Channell officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Wednesday morning. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Our Home, Inc. 334 Third St. SW Huron, SD 67350 Josephine Russell was born Josephine Lucille Andersen on October 9, 1906, to Adolph and Hannah (Nilson) Andersen on the family farm at rural Grafton, ND, where she grew up. She attended school at Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School in 1924. After moving to Huron she worked in the billing department at Northwestern Public Service. On May 14, 1939, Josephine married R.M. Bud Russell at Huron. Josephine continued to work for Northwestern Public Service for a period of time following her marriage. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, life member of the Huron Area Senior Center, and a volunteer for RSVP. Josephine is survived by her husband R.M. Bud of Huron; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 12 brothers and sisters.
