Joseph C. Zublis, Sr., age 79 of Huron, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at Huron Regional Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date in Iowa. Joseph was born on August 2, 1935 in Sioux City, IA to Carl and Irene (McMurray) Zublis. He was united in marriage to Mary Hamman on July 11, 1964 in Pipestone, MN. He had a long career with Armour and John Morrell Meats in Huron and Sioux City and retired from Sunbird in Huron. Over the years, Joe enjoyed hunting especially with his grandson Jacob and son in law Dave Bowers, fishing, camping, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Mary Zublis of Huron; 1 son, Joseph (Melanie) Zublis, Jr. of Sallisaw, OK; 3 daughters, Jolene (Dave) Bowers of Elk Point, SD, Mary Jo (Joe) Phillips of Huron, and Melonie Johnson of Elk Point, SD; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harold Hansen of Browns Valley, MN and Harvey (Denise) Hansen of Sioux City; and 4 sisters, Betty Potter of Kansas City, KS, Maxine (Tom) Webster of Inman, KS, Pearl (Joe) Harrison of Sioux City, and Janniee (Randy) Wheeler of York, NE. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law, Dean Potter, 1 grandson, Matthew Gross, 1 grand daughter in infancy, Jean Marie Zublis, and 1 son in law Eric Johnson.
