John E. Liedle, age 76, of Huron, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Aberdeen. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 pm on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the church. John was born on December 12, 1937 in Eureka, SD to Eugene and Ella Marie (Hull) Liedle. He was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in Aberdeen. After high school, John attended Northern State University in Aberdeen and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor's Degree in education. He moved to Huron after graduation and began a distinguished 38 year career as an educator and administrator in the Huron School System. From 1959-1966, John taught 6th grade at Jefferson School and in 1966, he assumed the role of principal at Lincoln Elementary. John later served as principal at Helen Buchanan, Lincoln, Wilson, and Washington. He earned his master's degree from Northern State University during his career. He retired from the district in 1997. After retirement, John enjoyed traveling, reading, dining out, and working in his yard. He is survived by his son, Scott of Huron; 1 brother, Ken Liedle of Omaha, NE; 1 niece, Kendra Liedle of North Hollywood, CA; and 1 nephew, Derek Liedle of Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother.
