John W. "Jack" Hauck, age 77, of 1345 Michigan SW, Huron, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the SunQuest Healthcare Center at Huron.
The family will be present Monday, October 13th at the funeral home to greet friends from 4 - 5 p.m. followed by a lunch.
Burial of his cremated remains will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15th at Lake Preston Cemetery. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Welter Funeral Home.
John Walter Hauck was born on July 1, 1931, to Robert O. and Helen May (Julson) Hauck, Sr in his family's home in De Smet, SD. He graduated from Lake Preston High School before moving to Los Angeles, CA for a job in construction work. He also worked on the Dam at Pickstown, SD, and was employed with Armour's and Co. in Huron until his retirement.
He was a member of the Huron Moose Lodge and Eight Ball Pool league. His hobbies were reading, playing pool, gardening, and being with his friends.
He is survived by a daughter Kelly (Steve Graves) Breck of Sioux Falls, SD; one son, Jason (Bobbi) Hauck of De Smet, SD; one stepson, Darwin (Donna) Christman of Huron; four grandchildren, Tawne Breck, Tera Breck, Alyson Hauck, and Jamison Hauck; one great-grandchild, Derek McKay; one brother, Robert (Darlene) Hauck Jr. of Lake Preston, SD; and two sisters Gloria (Walter) Swenson of Rapid City, SD and Rosemarie Green of Everett, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, Steven Christman, a nephew, Danny Green, and a special friend Shirley Brake.
