Honey, age 95, of Spicer, MN, formerly of Huron, SD, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Rice Care Center in Willmar, MN. Her funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Green Lake Free Lutheran Church in Spicer. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church in Spicer on Friday. Welter Funeral Home is assisting locally with the burial service which will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Johanna Bertha Honey was born on April 10, 1917, in Freeman, SD, the daughter of William and Ernestina (Wollman) Ibis. She grew up and received her education in South Dakota and then worked as a housekeeper in Huron for several years. On January 16, 1937, in Huron, Johanna was united in marriage to Vincent Samuel Honey. They made their home in Huron where she worked as a waitress at Red's Riverside Cafe and was active with the Isaac Walton Sports Club. In 1973, they moved to Cavour, South Dakota and was employed at Meyer's Cafe. On February 20, 1980, Vincent died, and in 1982, Johanna moved to Spicer, MN. She was a member of the Green Lake Free Lutheran Church in Spicer and the Spicer Senior Citizens group. Her hobbies included crafting, quilting and dancing. She is survived by 3 children, Diane (Dale) Nurnberg of Spicer, MN, Ronald Honey of Ione, CA, and Raymond (Janet) Honey of Lodi, CA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent; 1 grandson, Rocky; 4 brothers, Bill, Arnold, Richard and Art; 5 sisters, Molly, Katherine, Eleanore, Pauline and Leona; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Honey.
