Joe L. Williams, age 81, of Huron, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Avantara Huron in Huron, South Dakota. His memorial service will be on His memorial service will be on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Paul's Baptist Church in Utica, New York at 11:00 AM.

Joe Louis Williams was born on April 19, 1938 in Woodbine, Georgia to parents Andrew and Catherine (Crum) Williams. Joe grew up Jacksonville, Florida area. Joe worked as a truck driver in the concrete industry for Caparelli Brothers for many years. When he retired, he drove school bus, which he loved.

Joe married Delores Major on August 10, 1963 in Woodbine, Georgia. Joe and Delores made their home in Utica, New York from 1964 to 2014 before moving to Sioux Falls to be closer to family and then to Huron in 2017.

Joe enjoyed fishing, sports, and played softball on a traveling softball team named the Soul Brothers. He also enjoyed traveling and driving his own car!  In his younger years, Joe was very active as a Mason and a Shriner. Most importantly, Joe loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a man of quiet faith and demonstrated that love to his family.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Boyd A. Williams; one brother, Sim Williams; three sisters, Ernie Rivers, Helen Newman, and Jessie Pharr; and several nieces and nephews.

Joe is survived by his wife, Delores of Huron; son Rev. Dwayne (Jackie) Williams of Huron; daughter, Kathi Michelle Williams of Utica, NY; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy (Sheryl) Poprillo of Tampa, FL and Andrew Williams of Albans, New York; and three Godchildren.
