Dorothy "JoAnne" Perkins, age 74, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Huron, died Monday, January 20, 2014, at her home in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Friday morning one hour prior to the service. Dorothy Perkins was born Dorothy JoAnne Aanenson, daughter of Obert and Dorothy (Kent) Aanenson, was born on December 25, 1939, in Miller, SD. She attended school in Miller. She worked at the Cottage Inn in De Smet, Chef Café in Huron, and the Ben Franklin Store in Huron for 21 years. She retired in 1992 and moved to Lake Preston. In 1954 JoAnne married Gordon Dierkson in Miller. On July 9, 1988, Dorothy married Albert Perkins in Huron. JoAnne was a past member of First Presbyterian Church in Huron. She was presently a member of Eastern Star Mizpah #9 of Huron, Jasper #8 of Sioux Falls, American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, and a Compassionate Care volunteer. Joanne was an avid Elvis' fan, and had an extensive collection of ceramic cats, spoons, angels, Red Hat, and Special Eastern Star. Dorothy is survived by 3 sons, Terry (Vickie) Dierkson, Larry (Linda) Dierkson, and Gary (Machelle) Dierkson; and 1 son-in-law, Benny (Rose) Mogler.
