Jimmy Lee Lloyd, 22, of Huron, South Dakota, passed away on July 1, 2026. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made on the lives of those around him will be remembered for years to come.

Jimmy was born on February 14, 2004, to Jay and Lisa Lloyd. He attended Wolsey-Wessington School, where he grew up alongside lifelong friends and graduated with the Class of 2023.

Following high school, Jimmy entered the workforce, where he quickly earned a reputation as a hardworking and dependable employee. Throughout the years, he worked for Marone Farms, Central Plains Industries, and Hovde Excavating & Tiling. Of all the places he worked, Hovde Excavating & Tiling held a special place in his heart. Whether he was running an excavator, dozer, skid steer, or any other piece of equipment, Jimmy truly loved being behind the controls. He took pride in his work, never shied away from long hours, and believed there was satisfaction in earning an honest paycheck. His calloused hands were a testament to the work ethic he carried every day.

If there is one thing everyone can agree on, it's that Jimmy knew how to make people laugh. He had an unforgettable personality and was often the life of the party. Whether he was cracking jokes, telling stories, or simply being himself, laughter seemed to follow him wherever he went. His contagious laugh, complete with his signature nose scrunch, could fill a room and leave everyone around him laughing right along with him.

Jimmy was stubborn to the core and never backed down from who he was. He marched to the beat of his own drum, took no nonsense from anyone, and stood tall in his beliefs. While he could be hard-headed, he also had an incredibly kind heart. If someone needed a hand, Jimmy was there without hesitation. He was the kind of person who would show up when you needed him, expecting nothing in return.

Outside of work, Jimmy loved spending time with his friends, taking his pickups for a drive, riding dirt bikes, tearing through the mud, sitting around bonfires, listening to music, and sharing a few cold beers or a glass of whiskey with his buddies. He preferred being outdoors over sitting inside and was always ready for whatever adventure the day had in store.

One of the places Jimmy loved most was his grandma's kitchen, where he proudly took on the role of her "private chef." If he made himself supper, he always made enough to share with Grandma Harriet. Those simple acts of kindness meant more than words can express. At grandmas, he also shared a playful love-hate relationship with her dog, Macey. Jimmy never missed an opportunity to tease her just enough to get a reaction, and somehow, that became their own special bond.

Jimmy had an incredible circle of friends who meant the world to him. He knew people everywhere he went, and they knew they could count on him for a good laugh and a memorable time. He wasn't always the one making the plans, but when Jimmy did, everyone showed up because they knew it would be a day or night they would never forget. Many would say he was the glue that held his friend group together.

Some of the best memories were made at Mom and Dad's place, usually out in Dad's shop with the garage door open and a pickup torn apart. More often than not, he had a friend or two by his side, turning wrenches, lending a hand, and sharing plenty of laughs. Whether they were fixing something or just standing around talking, Jimmy enjoyed the company as much as the work itself. Every time he walked through the house, he had a joke ready or something smart to say. He had a way of pestering all of us until we rolled our eyes or laughed, and looking back, that was simply how Jimmy showed his love. Those ordinary moments; the sound of his laughter coming from the shop, the constant joking, and the time spent together as a family, are the memories we will treasure forever.

Like many young people, Jimmy faced challenges throughout his life. During his time at the Beadle County Jail and later at Stepping Stones in Mitchell, he formed friendships that would remain important to him. It was also during this season of his life that he began seeking a relationship with God. He kept a Bible app on his phone, spent time reading Scripture, and was actively searching for faith, hope, and a better future.

Jimmy had dreams that stretched far beyond his 22 years. He looked forward to building a future of his own, continuing the work he loved, and making a life for himself. Although those dreams were left unfinished, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on through everyone who knew and loved him.

Jimmy is survived by his parents, Jay Lloyd and Lisa Kretzschmar; his siblings, Jake, Tommy, Samantha, and Rachel Lloyd; his grandmother, Harriet Kretzschmar; and his grandparents, W.A. and Ethel Lloyd, along with countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Allan Kretzschmar, and the family's beloved dog of 15 years, Bowe.

To know Jimmy was to know laughter, loyalty, hard work, and a spirit that could never be contained. He lived boldly, loved fiercely, and left stories that will be told around bonfires, in shops, on job sites, and at family gatherings for generations to come.

His life was far too short, but his memory will be larger than life forever.
