Jill Annette Tschetter was born October 31, 1967 to Jerome and Shirley (Maas) Tschetter in Huron, SD. Growing up in Yale, SD she loved riding her horse, Brownie, with her sister, brothers, cousins & friends. She attended elementary school in Cavour, SD and graduated from Iroquois High School in 1985. She was active in basketball, cheerleading, and track. After high school, Jill pursued her cosmetology degree by attending Stewart's School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen. After graduation, Jill returned to Huron - working at Regis & later at Hair Designers.
Jill was united in marriage to Daniel Wurzer on May 26, 1990 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron, SD. Jill, Dan & son Derek made their home in Huron, where she soon found her new passion and opened Jill's Daycare in 1992.
For the next 22 years, many children, including nieces and nephews, passed through Jill's doors and they affectionately called her "JillJill". JillJill and Grandma Shirley lovingly cooked the kids' favorite homemade vegetable soup, beanies and weenies, and creamed cabbage every day before "Vicksing" them up and laying them down for naptime. She loved every single child as if they were her own.
Jill and Dan spent their summer weekends at West Bend camping, relaxing, and always finding a secret spot of huge walleyes. They enjoyed many summer holidays on the banks of the river with family and friends doing what they loved. Their most recent trip to Alaska, in June 2016, with cousins was one of Jill's most treasured memories. During the week, she would spend time tending to her big garden full of cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes. She loved to make stuffed peppers and salsa with her produce. She will always be famous in her family for her homemade egg rolls.
Her most cherished blessings were her son Derek and her granddaughter Ashlyn Rae. She absolutely loved when Derek and Ashlyn visited; always cooking for them and enjoying their company. Ashlyn often stayed with Nana Jill and Papa Dan, having fun playing outdoors and doing many activities with family and friends. Nana Jill always made sure Ashlyn's hair had her notorious tight braids and had her dressed in a cute outfit. Ashlyn always put a smile on Jill's face, her heart full of love and pride for this sweet little girl!
Jill loved being with her nieces and nephews; attending their events--especially their basketball games. She was their number one fan no matter where they played or how they played. She was a proud Chief, Tiger, Bulldog, Warbird, and Viking fan!
Jill's memory will be forever cherished by her husband, Dan, son Derek; granddaughter Ashlyn; mother Shirley Tschetter of Huron, father Jerome Tschetter of Cavour; sister Shelly (Danny) DeJong of Cavour, SD; brothers – Jody (Gail) Tschetter of Cavour; and Kip (Jessica) Tschetter of Huron; sister-in-law's – Patti (Roy) Tschetter of Huron; Mary (Joe) Dryden of Lakewood, Colorado; Kathi (Jeff) Cermak of Stoddard, WI & Joni (Paul) Styve of Calmar, IA.
