Obituary

Mrs. Mel (Jeannette) Youngerman, age 72, of 1065 Utah Ave. SE, Huron, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 5th at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the Mass at the church Wednesday morning. There will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Jeannette Youngerman was born Jeannette Johnson on January 24, 1934, to Harold and Alice (Steinlightner) Johnson at Miller, SD. She moved with her family to Salem, OR where she attended area schools and then later she moved to Huron where she graduated from Huron High School in 1952 in the honor society. On February 1, 1953, Jeannette married Mel Youngerman at the American Lutheran Church in Huron. They lived in Huron until 1955 when they moved to California and then in 1968 they moved back to Huron where she has lived since that time. In 1971, she managed the Carmelcorn Shop until 1989 and worked part-time as a secretary at the Beadle County Courthouse. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish where she was a lay minister. She enjoyed cross-stitch, painting watercolors and bingo. She is survived by her husband Mel Youngerman of Huron; 1 son Mark (Pam) Youngerman of Woodland, WA; 2 grandchildren, Darci Youngerman and Destry Spaur; her mother Alice Johnson of California; 1 brother-in-law, Art Dosch of California and 3 nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and her sister Georgia Dosch. Casket bearers will be Mark Youngerman, George Youngerman, John Wilson, Bill Nuhring, Jim Schmidt and Walter Bozentko.
