Jeanette M. Walton, age 83, of Huron, died on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron, SD.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 19, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-8 pm Friday, March 18, 2011 at Welter Funeral Home with Family present from 6-8 pm; or one hour prior to service at church.

Jeanette Mae Walton was born May 18, 1927 in Huron to Jack and Lena (Misek) Kunhart. Jeanette attended Huron schools and graduated from Huron High School in 1945. After graduation, she worked for Fairmont Foods as a bookkeeper.

Jeanette married Charles Walton December 7, 1957, in Huron. They moved to Alexandria, MN for a time, before returning to Huron where she raised her family.

Jeanette sold Avon for over 20 years and was a member of Avons Presidents Club. In her later years, Jeanette worked for Kmart with a group known as the Golden Girls and also was Kmarts oldest Employee.

Jeanette enjoyed gardening, tending and changing her flower gardens, decorating her house for the holidays and going out to eat with the Golden Girls. She especially enjoyed being a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren.

Jeanette is survived by her sons, Craig (Valere) Walton of Huron; Todd Walton of New Glarus, WI; three grandchildren, Evan Walton, Serena Walton, and Jack Walton; sister, Beverly (Dr. Gerald) Peppers of Woodland, CA; sister-in-law, Thea Kunhart of Carmichael, CA; nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her Parents; her husband, Charles in 1995; and brother Jack Kunhart.
