Jean Holforty, age 76, of Huron, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at her home in Huron. A private family service will be held at a later date, with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Huron.

Jean was born on January 7, 1947 in Huron, South Dakota to parents Ray "Hap" and Arvella Elizabeth (Callahan) Lewallen.

She is survived by her significant other, Orville Chenoweth of Huron; her children, Traci (Paul) Sorben and Jason (Heidi) Holforty, all of Huron; step-son, Chad Chenoweth of Sturgis; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Metzger, Alex (Jenny) Sorben, Jamie (Dillon Kouf) Holforty, and Jake Holforty, all of Huron; five great-granddaughters, Kayla, Hannah and Olivia Purintun, and Taylor and Elizabeth Sorben; step-grandson, Cruz Chenoweth; step-great-grandchildren, London, Maddie and Cruz Metzger; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Lori Holforty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huron Area Senior Center.
