Jean Rae Hatton, age 79, of Huron, SD passed away on Sunday July 20, 2014 at her home in Huron. Her graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. There will be no visitation. Jean Rae Nelson, the daughter of Selmer and Doris (Von Palworth) Nelson, was born on July 31, 1934 in Huron, SD. She attended school and received her GED. Jean worked as a nurse at the Stanley Convalescent Hospital in California for many years until her retirement. Jean married Donald Hatton on October 16, 1953 in Jacksonville, FL. The couple lived in California for many years until moving back to Huron, SD Jean loved animals. She had many pets over the years and loved every one of them dearly. Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Don of Huron, SD; her children, Scott (Kelly) Hatton of Ventura County, CA, and Debby (Reggie) Figard of Fountain Valley, CA; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; sister, Peggy (Rick) White of Minnesota; and her nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her grandparents and her mother and father.
