Jarold D.  "Jerry" Jones, age 76, of Wessington, SD, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Sanford (USD) Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

His funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington, SD with burial at the Wessington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, September 19, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Jarold D. Jones, the son of Edwin and Ella (Gutjahr) Jones, was born on September 7, 1941 in Leola, SD. His family moved to Huron, SD where he attended school and graduated from Huron High School in 1960.  Jerry worked construction and farmed for several years before finishing his career as a truck driver.  During his years as a truck driver, Jerry worked for Cliff Parkhurst Trucking, Action Carrier, T&E Enterprises and Stan's Incorporated and continued trucking for Resel Oil Company and John Boomsma even after his semi-retirement.

Jerry married Sharalyn L. Langbehn on July 3, 1965 in Rapid City, SD.

Jerry was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington, SD.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, and playing Moon with the fellas at the Manolis Grocery.  He also loved to ride his peddle bike through the streets of Wessington, SD.

Grateful for having shared in Jerry's life are his wife Sharalyn of Wessington, SD; son, Dale (Kristi Knock) Jones of Watertown, SD daughter, Christina (Stacy) De Boer of Clear Lake, SD; five grandchildren: Douglas (Stephanie Woods) Jones and Jessica (Lee Bernard) Jones both of Watertown, SD, Johnny and Jacob DeBoer of ClearLake, SD, and Allie Skinner of Wessington, SD; great-grandchild, Tren Bernard of Watertown, SD and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister, Carol Bell; brother-in-law Alan Bell; and several aunts and uncles.
