Jared James Pratt, Age 32 of Marietta, GA, formerly of Huron, SD, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 as a result of a car accident in Cobb County, Georgia.
His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. June 8, 2017 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron, SD, with burial in the St. Martins Cemetery, Huron.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday June 7, at the Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m.; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Jared was born July 9th, 1984 to Karen V. (Murphy) Pratt and Terry L. Pratt in Huron, SD. He grew up and attended schools in Huron, DeSmet, and Watertown, SD. He also attended Auto financial school in Chicago, Il.
Jared moved to Savannah, GA in March of 2003, to stay with his sister. While in Georgia, he met and married Emma Haymans on September 16th, 2006. This union brought two beautiful girls, Mollie (7) and Leah (5). Jared worked in Georgia for many years at car dealerships as the finance manager.
Jared loved spending time with his girls and spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed being an avid sports player, playing hockey, football and wrestling. He also enjoyed carving diamond willow canes and woodworking projects. Jared did return to Huron, SD for a short time before returning to Georgia.
Prior to his death, he was working at Exodus Ranch helping the children with rodeo events as well as helping at other ranches around the area where he was living. He had a love for horses and helping others more than anything. This was demonstrated by his desire to donate. Jared was able to help improve and save the lives of many others through his tissue and organ donation at the time of death. Jared will be remembered for his funny antics, big heart, and the love he shared for his family.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his daughters, Mollie and Leah Pratt of Georgia; his mother, Karen Pratt of Sioux Falls, SD; his father, Terry Pratt (Pam Ochsner) of Huron, SD; his sister Valerie (Tom) Anez and their son Landon of Harrisburg, SD; his brother, Jordan (Kristin) Pratt of Ramona, SD, Emma Haymans, Adam Ochsner, Tye Ochsner, Katie Ochsner and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends including all the children at Exodus Ranch.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Loretta Murphy and paternal grandparents Boyd and Delores Pratt; a sibling in infancy; cousins, Delaynee Schnabel, Kali Gonnelly, and a cousin in infancy.
