Janice A. Eggleston, age 89, of Livonia, MI, formerly of Alpena, SD passed away on November 23, 2022 in Livonia, MI.  Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at  Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Her visitation, with  family present, will be from 4-6 PM on Friday, December 9, at Welter Funeral Home.

Janice was born on August 7, 1933, in Alpena, South Dakota, to the late Merle and Alvina (Brenner) Krutzfeldt. Janice was raised in Virgil and graduated from the Virgil High School. Janice married Glenn Eggleston on June 18, 1951 in Alpena, SD.  The couple made their home in Virgil, SD and all 3 of her children were born in Beadle County.  In 1957 they moved to Detroit, MI.  Janice attended Beauty School and was the owner of three Jan-Della Salons in Michigan until her retirement.

Despite moving to Michigan, Janice and Glenn's South Dakota roots were very important to them, and they and their family would spend many summers back in South Dakota as well as returning in October for pheasant season.

One of Janice's favorite things to do was going out dancing with Glenn.  She even took dance lessons and became especially good at the Jitterbug.  Janice loved sweets especially apple pie and homemade fudge. Janice enjoyed garage sales, yard sales, and estate sales.  She even had a bumper sticker that said, "This car stops for all garage sales." One of her annual traditions was attending the Shipshewanna Garage Sale Festival in Shipshewanna, IN.

Janice is survived by her daughter Sherrine "Sherry" Kay Matusik; grandchildren Eric, Derrick and Renee and great grandchildren Colton and Kayden. She is also survived by her sister Diana Kay (Allan Paul) Heikkinen and niece Kristen Heikkinen.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband Glenn, son Rodney Allan Eggleston and daughter Janelle Graves.
