Janice (Warren) Collings, age 71, of 813 12th St. SW, Huron, SD, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at her home.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at American Lutheran Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, May 25, from 5-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 5-8 p.m.; or Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Janice Collings was born Janice Petra Stark on October 25, 1937, to Homer and Annetta (Hauck) Stark in Yankton, SD. She grew up in Utica, SD, where she attended grade school, then attended and graduated from Yankton High School in 1955. She attended Yankton College and received her teaching certificate in 1957. She began her teaching career in Mitchell in the elementary grades.
On August 9, 1959, Jan married Kenneth Warren in Yankton. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Huron where Jan continued teaching at Lincoln Elementary, McKinley Elementary, and Buchanan Elementary. She taught 5th grade for most of her teaching career. Jan retired in 1996.
Her husband, Kenneth, died on December 31, 1982.
Jan was a member of American Lutheran Church and the church choir; (USBC) United States Bowling Congress; (SDRTA) South Dakota Retired Teachers Association; (HEA) Huron Education Association; (SDEA) South Dakota Education Association; Pony Hills Reading Council; William Reaves American Legion Post #7 Auxiliary and the American Legion Chorus.
Jan truly loved the time that she could spend with her family and watching her sons play hockey as they were growing up. Her many interests included bowling, golfing, reading, gardening, playing card games and board games, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on television.
On May 17, 2003, Jan married Dr. Everett Collings in Huron.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Everett of Huron; 3 sons, Bradley (Donna) Warren of Sandy, UT, Barrett Warren of Moorhead, MN, and Brett (Jennifer) Warren of Huron, SD; 4 grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Beach, Tim Warren, Brittni Warren, and Gracie Warren; 5 step-children, James Collings of Boise, ID, Thomas (Lorinda) Collings of Black Hawk, SD, Barbara (Ed) Thomas of Boise, ID, Margaret (Pat) Powers of Flandreau, SD, and Jeff Collings of Boise, ID; 11 step-grandchildren, Ryan Denekamp, Cathleen Denekamp, Rachelle Hunter, Thomas Collings, Jr., Kristin Harvey, Emily Harvey, Shaun Powers, Amy Powers, Kelli Powers, Michelle Collings, and Sarah Collings; 12 step-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Janene Andrews of Rapid City, SD, and 1 brother, James (Janet) Stark of Utica, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth Warren; and 1 brother-in-law, Kaye Andrews.
