Jane DeLong, age 98, of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in Huron surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at American Lutheran Church in Huron, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service on Saturday afternoon.

Jane Etta DeLong was born on May 5, 1925 to Fred and Myrtle (Bond) Knouse on a farm in Iroquois, South Dakota. She grew up in the Carpenter and Iroquois area before moving to Huron in 1942. She married Ralph DeLong in 1943.

Jane worked for Armour and Co. for 30 years retiring in 1978 and continued working with Foster Care, the Adjustment training Center, and a caretaker for elderly and disabled.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Jacki) DeLong of Huron; her grandchildren, Annette (Rick) Waldner and Don (Cheri) DeLong; her great-grandchildren, Allyson (Tyler) Anthony, Courtney (Jose) Jimenez, and Stephanie (Cole) Colburn; and her two great-great grandchildren, Iyla and baby Colburn.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Ralph; her sons, Ralph Eugene and Thomas David; great-granddaughter, May Baby; and her brothers and sisters.
