Jan Wicks, age 66, of Cavour, SD, passed away on Saturday November 17, 2012, at her home in Cavour surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at the Richland Cemetery, Carpenter, SD. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 23, at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Jan Williams, the daughter of DeWitt J. and Jessie E. (Morgan) Williams, was born on August 2, 1946, in Arkansas City, KS. Jan attended school and graduated from Winfield High School. She also attended college and earned a business degree. Jan owned and operated the Cabaret Restaurant and a consignment store in Carthage, SD. She also owned and operated the Iroquois Steakhouse for a time. Jan married Larry Wicks on June 8, 2000, in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home in Cavour, SD, and Jan became the business manager in the family business, Wicks Auction. Jan enjoyed going to auctions, and doing crafts. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids, and her dog Jack. Jan was well loved and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Grateful for having shared in Jan's life are her husband, Larry of Cavour, SD; two daughters, Rebecca Plascencia and Jennifer Russell, both of Cavour, SD; six step-children: Lisa Wicks, Vaughn (Valerie) Wicks, Charleen (Fred) Sylaart, Justin Wicks, Blaine Wicks and Laurel Wicks; many grandchildren; her brother, Jim (Grace) Williams of Texas; sister, Trudy (Allen) Anderson of Illinois; several nieces and nephews; many close friends.
