James B. Zell, age 75 of Cavour, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Iroquois with burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, November 12 with a prayer service and time of sharing to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
James Bernard Zell was born on June 11, 1943 to Bernard and Phyllis (Evelyn) (Berquist) Zell in Huron. He attended Alley Country school and graduated from Huron High School in 1961. Jim served in the South Dakota National Guard. Jim married Millie Neilan on March 12, 1967 in Huron.
Jim was a multi-generational farmer who raised cattle and crops.
Jim enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren who had him wrapped around their fingers. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and going to the river. He loved being outdoors, especially at West Whitlock Resort. He enjoyed socializing with his many friends. Jim and Millie enjoyed summers at West Whitlock and portions of their winters in Mesquite, Nevada.
Jim was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Iroquois.
Jim is survived by his wife Millie of Cavour; his sons, Andy and Eric (Windy) of Cavour, Jeremy (Sara) of Stockholm, Sweden and Adam (Amanda) of Dubuque, Iowa. His nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Coty (Cody Nissen) Zell and their son Huxley, Miranda (Chad) Morgan and their daughter Layla, Erica and Ty Zell, Edith, Malcolm, and Oscar Zell, and Olivia and Emmett Zell. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Ken) Halvorson of Tumwater, WA as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Phyllis (Evelyn) Zell.
