James Young, age 74, of 1600 Lincoln Ave. SW, Huron, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at his home. His funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 18, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Rinearson offiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 until 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM and a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM; or Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. James Thomas Young was born on August 9, 1933, to Benjamin and Helen Young in Aberdeen, SD. He attended school through the 3rd grade in Aberdeen. Jim was married to Sandy Dilley. They were divorced in 1988 (Sandy died on June 11, 2003). Jim has lived in Aberdeen, Sioux Falls, Redfield, Gettysburg, in Minnesota, and was living in Huron at the time of his death. He worked for the Huron Area Center for Independence, Dakota Pork, Pamida, and retired from Lewis Drugstore on August 1, 2002. Jims many interests included eating popcorn, drinking coffee, playing baseball, watching baseball and wrestling on television, and listening to country music. When he was in good health he enjoyed riding his bicycle, roller skating, and long walks. Jim was generally a very happy guy who enjoyed telling jokes and doing good deeds. He is survived by his son, Tom Young of Huron; his daughter, Mary Young of Huron; and 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.
