James LeRoy Brockhoft, age 79 of Huron, SD passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home in Huron.  His memorial service will be held at a later date.

James LeRoy Brockhoft, the son of John and Gunda (Bjerke) Brockhoft, was born on June 17, 1941 in Bradley, SD, one of nine siblings.  He attended various schools and graduated high school.

James grew up with a love for horses and an outstanding work ethic that began at an early age. He enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his family.  He worked most of his years as a cross country truck driver with more than 1 million miles under his belt. James found joy in being one of the greatest concrete cutters there were. He also spent some time working construction.

In his free time James was an avid animal lover and was always willing to help anyone out with anything they needed. He was caring and was the backbone of the family.  James was always there for a shoulder to lean on and would help anyone in a hurry. He will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared in James' life is his daughter, Sue (David) Nelson of Summit, SD; son, James Brockhoft Jr. of Huron, SD; five grandchildren: Chris Brockhoft, Shane Dolim, Corey Dolim, Jaime (Brandon Estabrook) Brockhoft and Jessica (Jonathan Morales) Brockhoft-Morales; and thirteen great grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry Brockhoft of Huron, SD and Steve Brockhoft of Georgia.

James was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Dickie, Denny and Lee and three sisters Betty, Teddy and Linda.
