Jackie L. Brodersen, age 77, of Wolsey died Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron.

His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jack Brodersen was born July 19, 1933, in Huron to Roy and Lela (Schley) Brodersen. He attended De Smet schools until he was a sophomore in high school.

Jack worked for George Walters farming for a time, before joining his dad cutting ice on the river that would be sold to the Armour Packing Plant.

Jack married Marlyn Huizenga on August 9, 1954 at Sioux City, IA. They started farming near Willow Lake in 1957, then moved to Vienna, SD, before finally settling in Wolsey, SD, where they milked cows. Jack worked various jobs throughout his live including farming and construction.

Jack was a member of the Moose Lodge in Huron.

He enjoyed working and fishing.

Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlyn of Wolsey; sons, Randy (Val) Brodersen of Wolsey, Doug (Janet) Brodersen of Wolsey, Tony (Karen) Brodersen of Wolsey, Mike (Rose) of Rosamond, CA; daughters, Jackie (Jim) Hadlock of North Pole, AK, Michelle Brodersen of Huron; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Lynda) Brodersen of De Smet; sisters, Elaine Herker of Willow Lake, SD, Janet (Joe) Mendal of Brookings, SD; sister-in-laws, La Vonne Brodersen of Fargo, ND, Darlene Brodersen of Plattsmouth, NE; many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmy and Alvin; brothers-in-law, Richard Price, Doug Guerdet, Paul Twait, and Russell Herker.
