Evelyn was born in Huron, SD on September 15, 1914, to Larmie and Blanche Wayne. She was a member of Huron High School Class of 1932, attended Huron College, and graduated from the University of Minnesota.

She married Holland (Holly) Ward, Huron, at the Congregational Church in Huron in 1936, and they continued to make Huron their home for over 35 more years during which time they owned the Ward Agency. She was a 66-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, originally being initiated into Chapter F, Huron, in 1942. Evelyn enjoyed reading, politics, and travel.

Following the death of Holland in 1972, she married Charles Doron of West Palm Beach, Florida in 1973. In 1981, following the death of Charles, she married Stewart Evans of W. Palm Beach and Detroit, Michigan. Stewart passed away in 1996, and Evelyn continued to live in W. Palm Beach until moving to Lodi, CA in 2001.

She is survived by her 4 children: Melinda Reid of Grand Rapids, MI; Ping Barnes of San Diego, CA; H. Mac Ward, Jr. of Green Valley, AZ; and H. Stan Ward of Lodi, CA; one sister, Wanda Davies of Tucson, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and several step-children.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Wayne, her husbands, two sisters: Ruth (Albright) and Thelma (Wolner), and one granddaughter, Lacey Ward.

Graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Huron on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 10:00 a.m.
