J. Darrel Luckett, age 71, of Huron passed away on Tuesday May 29, 2012 surrounded by his family in Huron. His Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD, with burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Wessington Springs, SD at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the Welter Funeral Home on Friday. John Darrel Luckett, the son of V. Foster and Edna (Rumelhart) Luckett, was born on January 3, 1941 in Mitchell, SD. Darrel graduated from Huron High School in 1958 and attended Huron College receiving a Bachelor's Degree. Darrel was a livestock buyer for the Armour Meat Packing Plant in Huron for 19 years. Darrel sold insurance for the New York Life Insurance Company and sold real estate. Darrel worked for Terex for several years as well. Darrel was a member of the Huron Elks and served as its Past Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Huron. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. Grateful for having shared in Darrel's life are his daughter, Tina Rogers of Huron, SD; his two sons, Todd Luckett and Terry Luckett, both of Huron, SD; eleven grandchildren: Nicole (Joe) Stadlman, Brandi Rogers, Bryan (Jamie Pinzino) Small, Levi (Nicole) Rogers, Jessica (Nick) Ferguson, Joshua Luckett, Ashlee Luckett, Amber Luckett, Tyler Luckett, Heather (Kody Fridley) Luckett, and Mercedez Luckett; fourteen great-grandchildren: Orion, Ava, Alexandra, Gavin, Lily, Braydon, Kylee, Landyn, Dawsyn, Hailey, Alissa, Foster, Henry, and Landon; Darrel's aunt, Rose Luckett of Wessington Springs, SD; special friend, Jan Jaqua of Huron, SD; and several cousins. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents; his uncle, Jim Luckett; two granddaughters, Kristi and Skyla; great-grandson, Mikhail; and son-in-law, Mike Rogers.
