Irma Jones, age 94, of 370 Frank Ave. SE, Huron, died Thursday, December 28, 2006, at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 30, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call this Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Saturday morning. Irma Jones was born Irma L. Kief on September 8, 1912, to William and Caroline (Ziehr) Kief at Harris, IA. In 1917 Irma moved with her family to a farm near Huron. In 1937, Irma married Floyd Jones at Watertown, SD. They lived on several farms southeast of Huron. In 1960 they moved to Huron. Irma worked for St. Johns Hospital for 23 and-a-half years as a histology technician. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Huron Area Senior Center, YWCA, BPW, 2 card clubs, and volunteered for the Huron Area Senior Center and the Huron Nursing Home. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, golfing, and baking. She is survived by 1 son, Buell (Marlene) Jones of Forestburg, SD; 1 daughter, Carolyn (Ken) Gose of Huron; 4 grandchildren, Gary (Kathy) Jones, Glade (Carol) Jones, Michael (Amy) Gose, and Karla (Dave) Kleinsasser; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd in 1960; 1 granddaughter; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
