Iola Mildred Paye-Valentine, age 88, of Benson, MN and formerly of Huron, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, MN. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service. Iola Mildred Andresen was born January 7, 1927 at home near Wolsey, South Dakota, the youngest of twin girls, to Harry and Shirley (O'Neal) Andresen. On August 11, 1946 she married Ray Oscar Paye in Huron, South Dakota. They made their home on a farm in rural Cavour and raised their family of four children. Ray "Bud" passed away in early 1990 and shortly thereafter she moved back to Wolsey to care for her parents. On March 10, 1995 she married Robert Valentine and they resided in Wolsey, South Dakota. Robert passed away in November, 2007. Shortly thereafter, Iola moved to Huron, SD and then to Benson, MN. Iola "Mildred" enjoyed animals of all kinds especially horses and dogs, making toys, decorating cakes, watching soap operas, reading and her family. She helped raise several grandchildren, sometimes helping by providing daycare and sometimes by taking them into her home. She also helped her husband "Bud" operate their farm by milking cows by hand, raising the neighbors "runt" piglets, surviving cranky hens when collecting eggs and running the household. She is survived by her children: Norene Bult of Custer, SD; Terry (Gloria) Paye of Huron, SD; Shirley Evans of Kerkhoven, MN; and Paula (Jerry) Caldwell of Murdock, MN; Grandchildren; Cindy Hargan, Chad (Bonnie) Palmer, Chet (Lynette Andrews) Palmer, Tasma (Patrick) Wilke, Wendy Paye, Darren (Brandie Pitts) Paye, Christopher (Jennifer) Paye, and Ian Caldwell; several Great-Grand Children and Great-Great Grand Children - her brother, Stanley (Yvonne) Andresen of Mankato, MN and several Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by husband Ray Oscar Paye; husband Robert Valentine; her parents Harry and Shirley Andresen; twin sister Viola "Marion"; brother Alan, and Grandson Charles Cheney.
