Obituary

Ida Poe, age 80, of 351 21st St SE, Huron, died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the De Smet Good Samaritan Center. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Friday, July 7th at Riverview United Methodist Church with Rev. Iva Laudermith officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM or prior to the service at the church Friday morning. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Ida Poe was born Ida Hershman on July 29, 1925, to John O. and Vivian (ONeal) Hershman at Wolsey. She grew up and attended school at Huron. Ida married Doug Jansen in 1941. They lived for a few years in Oregon. She returned to Huron and was married to Herbert Rohrabaugh Sr. on October 8, 1950 and lived in Huron. On January 6, 1973, Herbert died. On September 13, 1974 Ida was married to Wayne Poe at Huron and they lived in rural Huron. On May 13, 1994, Wayne died. She was baptized and confirmed at the German Lutheran Church in Huron. She was a member of Riverview United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and cooking for her family. She is survived by 3 children, Dick (Laurie) Jansen of Jacksonville, FL, Larry (Joyce) Jansen of De Smet, and Cheryl Simmons of St. Joe, AR; 9 grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Ziegeldorf of Brandon, Lora (Friedrich) Trost of Des Moines, IA, Linda (Mike) Gilbertson of Brookings, Lesley (Adam) Berry of Farmington, MN, Debbie (Jerry) Lamb of Jacksonville, FL, Eric (Melissa) Jansen of Jacksonville, FL, Keith (Jill) Jansen Universal City, TX, Brett (Connie) Tschetter of Huron, and Curtis Bratland of Flagstaff, AZ; 13 great-grandchildren, Jessa Ziegeldorf, Jorie Ziegeldorf, Victoria Trost, Rebekah Trost, Josiah Trost, Annika Trost, Piper Gilbertson, Drue Gilbertson, Jonah Berry, Trey Lamb, Nicholas Jansen, Lauren Jansen and Olivia Jansen; 3 step children, Michelle (John) Lintz of Rapid City, Marlene (Jim) Rudy of Cavour and Gary (Patti) Wood of Cavour; 7 step grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 3 husbands, 2 step children, Herbert Rohrabaugh Jr. and Zonna Mae Rohrabaugh, 1 great grandchild, Alec Ziegeldorf, her parents, 7 brothers, Harold, Larry, Dick, Shirley, Jack, Gerald, and Neal Hershman, and 1 sister, Irene Patton.
