Howard Bragg, age 77, of Huron, SD, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at Medcenter One Hospital in Bismarck, ND, on Friday, February 3, 2012, His memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, at Huron Baptist Church with inurnment of his cremated remains at Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Columbarium, with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Memorial visitation with family present will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Huron Baptist Church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Howard Edward Bragg, son of Fred and Alice (Strong) Bragg, was born on February 12, 1934, on the family farm near Hampden, ND. He graduated from the 8th grade in Edmore, ND. He joined the North Dakota Army National Guard at the age of 16 years. He completed his basic training in 1951 at Camp Parker, CA. He was merged into active duty with the U.S. Army during the Korean War through 1953, and received his honorable discharge from the Guard in 1957. Howard met Beverly Nixon on a blind date and they were married on November 16, 1953 at Southam, ND. They lived in Devils Lake following their marriage. Howard was employed by the Jerome Candy Company and Budwesier Company from 1953-1955 in Devils Lake, ND; from 1956 for one year he worked in the Copper Mine in Butte, MT; 1957 Howard worked at Montgomery Ward in Devil's Lake, ND; 1961 for Montgomery Ward in Aberdeen; 1962 Montgomery Ward in Huron; he owned and managed the Holiday Motel in Huron from 1962-1986; 1986-1989 he worked at Wilbrecht's Electronics. He retired in 1999. Howard raised Arabian Horses and was a steward and judge for the American Horse Show Association. Howard was a member of the Western Way Cowboy Church in Huron; and the American Legion Post. Following his retirement he made harness hitches for Breyer Horses. Howard is survived by his 3 children, Howard W. (Kathie) Bragg of Madison, MN, Valerie (Mike) Mincer of Mandan, ND, and Dale (Monica) Bragg of Huron; 11 grandchildren, Darcy (Rob) Sheneman, Joshua (Josie) Bragg, Dustin (Katie) Bragg, Jessica (fiancé Ryan Fischer) Bragg, Stacey (Troy) Ahmann, Weston Mincer, Aubrey (Rob) Remmers, Brittney Bragg, Jordan (Jackie) Bragg, Celina (Tom) Cypher, and Arturo (Amanda) Bragg; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly on March 12, 2009; and 2 brothers.
