Helen Scheidegger, age 83, of Huron died on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial in Broadland Cemetery.
Her visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday November 14, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with the family present from 6-8 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the church.
Helen Marie Scheidegger was born on November 27, 1926 in Hitchcock, to Fred and Elvira (Grimm) Scheidegger. Helen grew up on the family farm and attended country school near Hitchcock. She graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1944.
Helen worked as a secretary in Mitchell and Huron for Farmers Union Insurance from 1951 to 1953. In 1953, she began working as a secretary for Northwestern Public Service in Huron, until she retired in November of 1988.
Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron.
Helen enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, word search, country music, doing yard work, tending her flowers, and staying up late watching TV.
Helen is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Lyle) Lien of Hillsboro, OR; her nieces and nephews; and special care giving friends, Ralph and Connie DeJean of Huron, SD.
Helen was preceded in death by her father in 1963; her mother in 1979; and her brother, Art Scheidegger in 1999; and sister-in-law, Alice.
