Helen Langbehn, age 95, of Wolsey, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020, at her home in Wolsey. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial to follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Wolsey. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 14, from 3-6 PM with her family present from 5-6 at Welter Funeral Home. Please follow CDC guidelines and masks are required at the funeral home.Her funeral service will be live streamed at www.stjohnslutheran.sermon.net
Helen Alice Meyer was born on March 31, 1925 to parents John F. and Emilie (Funk) Meyer in Wessington, South Dakota. Helen attended Wessington School for 12 years and then attended Madison College for a summer session to get her teaching certificate. Helen taught for two years before becoming a loving wife and homemaker.Helen married Norman Langbehn on November 25, 1944 in Wolsey, South Dakota. They lived in Wolsey where they raised their family of 6 children.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, LWML, and Extension Club from 1964-1989.
She is survived by her children; Craig (Betty) Langbehn of Griffin, Georgia, Douglas (Lori) Langbehn of Peachtree City, Georgia, Barbara (David) Moser of Huron, Jeff (Darcie) Langbehn of Wolsey, and Todd (Ann) Langbehn of Aberdeen; son-in-law, Alan Kathner of Faulkton; 14 grandchildren, Michael (Kym) Langbehn, Tracy Langbehn, Travis (Kate) Langbehn, Emily Sellers, Jason Langbehn, Casey (Selena) Langbehn, Lincoln Kathner, Tammy (Jeff) Gilbert, Kristi (Joel) Vetter, Sawyer Langbehn, Carter (Rachael) Langbehn, Hannah, Max, Sophie Langbehn; 14 great-grandchildren, Mackeon, Chase, Kassidy Langbehn, Ansley Bird, Nora, Alice and Molly Sellers, Luke and Owen Langbehn, Vaughn Kathner, Lexy and Josh Gilbert, Taylor and Austin Vetter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emilie Meyer; husband Norman; daughter Linda; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Darold Huddleston, brothers Henry Meyer and Arnold Meyer, and grandson-in-law BJ Sellers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, Wolsey Firefighters Association, Wolsey Ambulance Association, and Wolsey Senior Center.
