Helen I. Huddleston, age 87, of Corsica, SD, and formerly of Wessington, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center at Corsica. Her burial service of her cremated remains will be at 11:00 Wednesday, August 4, at the Wessington Cemetery at Wessington with Rev. Allen Sager officiating. There will be no visitation. Helen I. Huddleston was born Helen I. Langbehn on November 7, 1916, to Arthur and Anna (Dammon) Langbehn in Carroll County, IA. When she was a young girl she moved with her family to South Dakota and attended school at Wolsey. In 1935, Helen married Willis L. Stuart. They made their home in Huron where Helen drove taxi and worked at local businesses. To this union 2 children were born, Willis, Jr. Butch, and Myra. The couple later divorced. On September 11, 1948, Helen married Gerald Hud Huddleston at Mitchell. They moved to Wessington where she worked at the Golden Rule Grocery and Department Store. Later, they moved to a farm and then back into Wessington. They purchased the Mobil Service Station, which later was known as OK Service. Helen drove school bus for several years and also helped operate the service station with Hud. They owned the station until Huds death on July 18, 1998. Helen later moved into Assisted Living in Stickney and in January of 2003, to the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in Corsica. She was a member of various community clubs over the years. She is survived by 1 daughter, Myra Stuart (Ken Pickle) Huizenga of Golden Valley, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Eugene, Dominic, and Teresa Huizenga; Richard, Vickie, Glen, and Steven Stuart and their families; several great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dorothy Menning of Wolsey, and Marjorie Garner of Roscoe; several nieces and nephews; and her very special friends, Duane, Peggy, Joseph, Bridget, Amanda, Tom and Carol Casavan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Hud; 1 son, Willis, Jr. Butch; 2 brothers, LaRay Langbehn, and Ralph Langbehn; 3 sisters, Mildred Bolte, Alice Lyman, and Edna Mae Williams.
