Helen Harsch, age 89, of 1251 Arizona Ave SW, Huron, died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 13th at the Welter Funeral Home with Joe Hobbs and Phyllis Williams officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call this Tuesday afternoon and evening or Wednesday until the time of service at the Welter Funeral Home. Helen Harsch was born on October 15, 1917 to Emanuel and Ida Louise (Zastrow) Harsch on a farm north of Woonsocket. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Alpena High School. Helen remained on the family farm helping her parents and later helping her brother Harry operate the farm. Besides being responsible for the household duties on the farm Helen helped with the milking, planting a garden and growing flowers. Helen remained on the farm with her brother until 2001 when she moved to SunQuest Apartments in Huron to be near her brother who because of failing health entered the Huron Nursing Home. Helen enjoyed crocheting, quilting and entering craft shows where she won numerous prizes for her work. She also enjoyed reading her Bible and especially the fellowship it brought after hearing and responding to the Gospel in 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by several cousins and many friends.
