Hazel E. Marvel, age 91, of Sioux Falls, and formerly of Huron, died on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community in Sioux Falls.
Her Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 3-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 5-7 p.m.; or Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service.
Hazel Marvel, daughter of Frank and Pearl (Wilson) Cavenee, was born Hazel E. Cavenee, on February 6, 1919, in Wessington, SD. She attended Wessington schools.
On March 6, 1937, Hazel married Eddie Pat Marvel in Tulare, SD. The couple lived in Wessington until 1945 when they moved to Huron. Hazel was a homemaker. In 1998 Hazel moved to Sioux Falls.
Hazel enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling, playing cards, and had a great love for animals.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Tom) Smith of Sioux Falls, SD; 9 grandchildren: Brenda Stienblock, Doug (Debbie) Marvel, Monica (Steve) Fuller, Pam (Mark) Luckhurst, Darcie (Kevin) Wachter, Jill Marvel, Mike Smith, Jodie (Keith) Johannsen, and Shell (Kyle) Carroll; 14 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren with the birth of 2 more great great grandchildren very shortly.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie Pat Marvel in 1981; her son, Roger Marvel; her daughter, Karen Stienblock; 1 son-in-law, Dean Stienblock; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.
