Hazel F. Dietz, age 88, of Huron, died Sunday, December 20, 2009, at the SunQuest Health Care Center in Huron.
A Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron.
Hazel F. Bonnes, the daughter of Frederick and Georgia (Bartie) Bonnes, was born on January 30, 1921, in Wessington, SD, and attended schools at Sand Creek and Wessington, SD.
Hazel married Orlie Dietz on August 20, 1940, in Huron, SD, in a double ceremony with her brother, Lawrence (Stub) and Orlies sister, Norma. The couple farmed near the Wessington and Wolsey area, and then moved to Huron where they made their home for the remainder of their lives. Hazel was a homemaker, raising her three children, Ken, Gary, and Cindee.
Hazel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huron, SD. She enjoyed baking and gardening.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her two sons, Ken (Barbara) Dietz of Wolsey, SD, and Gary (Kathy) Dietz of Buena Park, CA; daughter, Cindee (Steve) Martin of Huron, SD; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Norma Bonnes, Joy Johnson, Gladys Erickson, Betty Liedtke, Marge Freske, and Charlote Hammar; and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orlie in 1997; infant daughter, Kathleen; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; 5 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; and 5 nieces and nephews.
