Harvey V. Miller, age 91, died Friday, May 14, 2010, in Huron, SD, surrounded by his family.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 18, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main, Sioux Falls, SD.

Visitation with family present will be on Monday from 5-7 pm at Miller Funeral Home.

Harvey was born to Fred and Rose (Gieseke) Miller in Crandon, SD, on October 8, 1918. He attended school in the Redfield area. His family farmed north of Tulare and in the winter months he worked in Tulare as a mechanic.

On June 1, 1948, Harvey married the love of his life, Gladys Kleinsasser, in Doland, SD. They farmed in the Tulare area for a short time until they purchased a farm northeast of Huron.

Harvey was a very active member of the Township and School boards. He was also a faithful member of the Broadland Methodist Church. He dedicated twenty years of service to the Department of Agriculture and fourteen years as Director of Equalization for Beadle County. In 1977 Harvey and Gladys retired and moved to a home in Huron where they lived until 2003.

Gladys passed away in August 2004, at which time Harvey moved to Trail Ridge Retirement Community in Sioux Falls, SD, and then at The Inn on Westport, Sioux Falls, SD until moving back to Huron. Harvey spent the last week of his life in Huron where he was blessed to be reunited with many of his family and friends.

He is survived by one daughter, Ginger (Ross) Johnson of Bloomington, MN; two sons, Daryl (Deb) Miller of Huron, SD, and Scott (Becky) Miller of Tea, SD; seven grandchildren, two great -grandchildren; and one sister, Velva Allen of Redfield, SD.
