Harry W. Baltzer, age 89, of Huron, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 on Veterans Day at Sioux Falls VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Per Harry's wishes, he will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Harry Wilbur Baltzer was born on October 11, 1930 in Wessington Springs, South Dakota to parents Emanuel and Bertha (Redmann) Baltzer. Harry attended country schools in Jerauld and Beadle Counties and graduated from Alpena High School. Harry attended Huron College and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, graduating with a degree in engineering. Harry served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.

Harry worked as a surveyor and carpenter for many years, living in different cities. Harry was confirmed in the Alpena Congregational Church and belonged to many progressive, activist political organizations. He was remembered for riding his bike around town and taking up various causes he believed in.  Harry also enjoyed spending many hours reading at the public library.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Oscar, Eldon, Robert, and Alvin; sisters Erna, Hulda Selma Ristine, and Lillian Lesney.

He is survived by two brothers, Thomas and Arnold; as well as many nieces and nephews.
