Harold D. Owens, age 102, of Huron, SD, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Avantara Huron. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Harold D. Owens, the son of Albert and Marie (Kohnert) Owens, was born on August 25, 1919 in Ipswich, SD.  The family moved to Huron, SD in 1920 and Harold has lived in Huron ever since.  Harold attended school and graduated from Huron High School in 1937.  Harold worked for the Armour Company from 1938-1942 when he joined the armed forces. Harold served his country in the U.S Navy during World War ii and was honorably discharged in December of 1945

Harold married Gladyce Meyers on October 15, 1949 in Huron, SD.  Harold was the owner of the Double H Ice Cream Store. He also owned and operated Harold's Café in Huron from 1961- 1997 when he retired.

Harold was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 1776. He enjoyed playing Golf, reading and cars both classic and modern.

Grateful for having shared in Harold's life are his two sons Mark (Ginger Rostyne) Owens and Steve Owens both of Huron, SD; grandson, Benjamin (Katlyn) Rostyne of Wessington Springs, SD; great-grandchildren, Baylee and Brody Rostyne; and his nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gladyce in 2017; and his sister, Marlene (Bill) Heth.
