Obituary

Dr. Harold Jon Moore, age 52, of 410 Ohio Ave. NW, Huron, died Monday, September 27, 2004, at Sioux Valley Hospital at Sioux Falls. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 2, at the Welter Funeral Home with Wayne Preen officiating. Burial will be at the Broadland Cemetery with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday until time of service at the Welter Funeral Home. Harold Eugene Moore was born on February 2, 1952, to Ephraim and Betty (Parnell) Moore at Tulare, CA. As a small child he moved with his parents to Gabbs, NV, where he grew up. He graduated from high school in 1970. He entered the U.S. Army in August of 1970, and served in Vietnam as a helicopter gunner. He was honorably discharged in August of 1972, and returned to Gabbs. He attended and graduated from college and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in Nevada. He lived and worked in Gabbs until moving to Huron in early 2003. On June 14, 2004, Jon married Sheila Rycraft Pintuck at Aberdeen. The couple made their home in Huron. While living in Nevada he belonged to several professional veterinary associations. His many interests included his love for horses and collecting Western memorabilia, particularly cowboy hats. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, traveling, and his outlook on life was guided by his daily readings of the Bible, and his great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Sheila of Huron; 1 son, Roger of Missouri; 1 daughter, Becky of Germany; his mother, Betty Moore of Gabbs, NV; 2 brothers, Doug (Diane) Moore of Alco, NV, and Kenny (Gaylene) Moore of Toole, UT; 1 sister, Kathy Moore of Hitchcock, TX; 1 step-daughter, Roxanne Pintuck of Huron; and 1 step-son, Ryan Pintuck of Huron; and his special dog, Roper. He was preceded in death by his father, Ephraim in October of 1998.
